Akata Deep Phase II gas processing plant achieves mechanical completion

Rivers State, Nigeria | 14 July 2026

The Phase II expansion of the Akata Deep gas processing facility in Rivers State has achieved mechanical completion, marking the end of the construction phase and the start of pre-commissioning.

The expansion adds 420 MMscfd of processing capacity to the existing plant. At full production the facility will supply gas to three adjacent power plants and reduce associated gas flaring by 94% across the operating area, the largest single flare reduction commitment in the portfolio.

First gas is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, following commissioning and regulatory inspection. Total capital investment in the expansion is $780 million.
